FAQS

When and where is the event taking place?

Subsurface 2018 will take place on Saturday, December 1 2018. The venue is a 100-year old limestone mine one hour north of Pittsburgh, PA. Shuttles will depart from Carnegie Mellon University at 1PM to drive the audience to the limestone mine.  Once at the limestone mine, the one-hour experience will start promptly at 3:00PM.  You should be back in Pittsburgh at a reasonable hour for dinner.

How do I get to the event?

We will be providing shuttles to the site that will depart from Carnegie Mellon University the day of the event. Details about the shuttles will be emailed to ticket holders.

Will seating be provided at the event?

Subsurface will be experienced entirely on foot.  One should expect to walk and explore for approximately an hour.

What should I wear?

The temperature inside the mine is 55 degrees fahrenheit every day of the year.  Some of the spaces that will be explored are paved and some have dirt floors.  Thus we recommend wearing sturdy, warm clothing and footwear.  Dress as if you were going for a hike an autumn day.

Nope.

Can I take photos/videos/sound-recordings?

Yes please!  And once you resurface please share them on social media using the hashtag #SUBSURFACE17
